Kittybell Gallery is a female-owned experimental micro art gallery in Berkeley, CA created July 2026. After being rejected from many opportunities, I decided to create a tiny DIY gallery in my bedroom to showcase my artwork and that of talented local artists. This anti-capitalist space operates without transactional exchanges of money. Nothing in the gallery is allowed to be sold or purchased, as in the spirit of anti-capitalism. Instead, this is an interactive and playful space for artists to display their work in an extremely affordable low-stakes manner. Dually functioning as my bedroom, this space is certainly not open to the public. Artists who are invited gain intimate exclusive access to the gallery. My mission is to highlight the work of artists whose talents have gone unnoticed by the mainstream art world. I encourage other artists to make their own anti-capitalist galleries in a similar spirit. This way we can shift the artistic landscape back into the hands of those who are the creators. Art is not a commodity, it’s a way of life.
